The Quantum canon is the most innovative design for a weapon. A particle accelerator draws energy from the matter/antimatter fuel chambers of the ship, enveloping it in a signature directed containment field that matches the shield signature of the target ship making for perfect targeting. Of course it draws so much fuel that is not uncommon to find ships stranded after they've used the canon.
